Multiplicity of Blessings today

I Hunted with my dad today.  The Britts had a another good day on Roosters, and an even better day on Huns.  Took the day off and it was a Multiplicity of blessings day today. We had finished our day with 3 roosters and 2 huns, we were lining them up for pictures on the barn window. Jazz was nowhere to be found and then all of the sudden the Garmin said she was on point 160 yards away.  I let it sit and continued getting the other dogs in the picture. Well, she was still on point. So I grabbed the gun and reloaded it and headed up the hill. Harley and Milly joined the walk and as we got close they locked up and honored Jazz. I walked into a small covey of 5 huns and only took 1 shot and 1 bird. Harley with the retrieve.
We also had all 3 point a covey of 20 huns that my dad and I took a bird each from.
The pheasant work was super as usual. All birds were pointed and 1 was retrieved from the snake river by Milly, the other off a steep drop to the bank of the river by Harley.

Super short hunt today

Snuck out for a quick walk, Jazz locked up at 150 yards from the truck within minutes. She stood this Rooster really well. Milly and Harley backed and I moved in nice and quiet for the shot. Milly had the retrieve.

Another great day in the field

Well this continues to be one of the best pheasant seasons we have had in a while. We took a 4 man limit of birds and a few huns.  Dog work was great again...we had some super thick cover that was challenging for the dogs for scenting conditions.
The only weak part of the day was I didn't take many photos.
Even found a Moose shed.

Pheasant Opener 2016

One of the best days ever! Dogs were amazing. All 5 were firing on all cylinders today. Pointing, backing, and retrieving, were everything you could ask for. Wet got into 13 coveys of huns, sharptails, and a bunch of pheasant.

Montana Hunting 2016

Well I made a weekend trip to meet Dave and do some hunting. It was tough this year. A lot of my favorite spots are now stubble fields. Nevertheless we got some good hunting in. Sharptaiks were challenging, huns were harder to come by, we did well on pheasant.

Life is Ruff

Had an amazing morning yesterday. Went out for a couple hours and found 19 Ruff Grouse and even a Rooster pheasant. It was unreal. Every patch I hunted had birds in it. We pointed 14 of them. Milly pointed most of them. Jazz and Harley pointed a few and backed Milly several times.
I took pictures of birds and the gamin with dogs on point. I was really selective on the birds we took and how well the dogs worked them. It was a magical hunt.

Sharptail opener 2016

This brown phase ruff grouse was a true pleasure to hint today. Milly pointed the first time, flush but no shot.  Harley pointed the 2nd time, again flush but no shot. 3rd time Milly and Harley nailed him and I got him lightly and he landed out in a crp field. Milly and Jazz then pointed it out in the crp. Truly memorable bird that I was so blessed to take today.
Hunted with Andy and Shawn today.
Also got a ruff pointed by Jazz today and two sharptail. What a as great morning.

One more round from the Ranch Hunt

One more day of dog handling with pheasant up on the ranch. We had less Birds put up this time, but the dogs did a great job.
