Pepper Pointing on Opening Day of Pheasant 2011

This Picture is one of Pepper's Points from opening day of Pheasant Season. She is still hunting and pointing like a champion, unfortunately her age is starting to show. I have had to leave her home a few times to rest and recover. It tears me apart to leave her back, and I know she feels the same!

Quick Morning Pheasant Hunt

This is one of those days when the pictures speak for themselves.  Great dog work, great birds and some pretty good shooting to go with it.

Opendind day of Pheasant Season 2011

Madison's First Pheasant Hunt, the cover and the Thistle's were thick!  She was a trooper and the Dogs gave her some nice points.  She took a couple shot, but came home with an empty bag.
Riley also hunted, we didn't get him in positiion for any shots, but he was entertaining us with some singing along the way.

Oregon Quail and Chukar Hunt

This is from the last day of the hunt, and it was a little rougher than expected.  We got into a lot of Chukar.  they were wild and it was hot and we didn't get the best dog work.  This picture is Milly, Harley, and myself with some Chukar and Quail and a few antler sheds we found.

Lee, with Sage and Archie on the same hunt.

Early Quick Sharpie Hunt

I snuck out for a quick walk with the dogs near home this morning. Took all 3 and went after it. Pepper locked up on top of a hill and a covey of huns flushed quick and I was able to get one of them. Harley retrieved it. Made a loop back to the same old road/trail that the huns were on. Milly got Birdy, Harley went on point. A groupe of 6-8 Sharptail flushed and I doubled. The birds didn't hold well, the wind was whipping and I think they were pretty nervous.

October Sage and Sharptail Hunt

We only had time for a quick morning hunt, but we made the most of it. The kids didn't get to shoot, but Dad got his First Sage grouse off of a nice point on a group of Sage Hen that Harley pointed. Milly actually pointed a pair of Sharptail for me, I was able to take one of those. The night before I found a Moose Shed, that was a first for me. I was able to shoot a Sage Hen earlier in the morning as well.
