Hunting for partridge

Chased some partridge the last couple days, didn't bag any but got into some. Finally went and chased some ruff grouse around and took a couple. Dogs did a good job.

Put & Take 2017 part 1

Not a big fan of put & take pheasant hunts, but this one does fund my bad habits. Yesterday the dogs were phenomenal taking people out on a pheasant hunt. These guys have been with me several years now and love the dogs!

Early Morning Blues

Went out for a short 7 mile hike before work today.  Dogs got into a few Ruffs and blues.  It's hot still and smoky from the fires. We were able to take one nice blue today. Milly with the retrieve.

Cast and Blast, Grouse and Trout

Had an excelleny last 4 days hunting grouse and flyfishing for trout. We were able to take Ruffs, Blues, and Spruce Grouse over points and catch a few trout during the hot hours of the day.  We also saw the Kokanee salmon running up to spawn. We did a bunch if training of the new dogs on young grouse.  Such an amazing few days!
Milly pointed a nice male spruce grouse, Jess, pointed spruce and ruffs for the first time.  All the dogs had great moments. Feeling Blessed!

Season started today in Idaho.

Well, the season is upon us here in Idaho.  After my first 3 choices to start had bow hunters parked in it, I finally found somewhere to have a  brief hunt this morning before work.  Milly, Harley, and Jazz, they all 3 pointed this one. It was just above them in the tree, however there was another in the ground  that i think they were pointing.  For the first bird of the year you would never have known.  They acted like they'd done this before. Took it with my 28 guage as well.

Fall is getting close....

We found a few huns yesterday.  Season starts in 10 days.  I love the Fall!  You can feel itnos the evening air...

High mountain lakes

About 28 years ago I hiked into these lakes and caught the wopper in the bottom right.  Did it again yesterday.  Incredible  place to be. Caught my first grayling also. Caught some decent cutties as well.

Quail are almost done

After I get these 3 species back, all 6 North American quail will be at my house.  The Grand Slam of quail.
