Sharptail Opener 2015
I was able to get a bird dogs and fly fishing buddy out on Sharptail this year. Maurice got his first 2 sharpies and I shot 1 as well. It was hot but we had some decent dog work. Jazz had the best point and I cut some feathers but didn't drop it.

A trophy from last year.
Last year the dogs and I took a bunch of city folk on a Grouse Hunt. The lodge that takes care of these folk had me take one of the trophies to my taxidermist. I was able to deliver him to the lodge this week.

New places...love em when they are good!
A beautiful morning hunt. The dogs were on fire today. We pointed several singles and a few family groups. I even had my good grouse hunter going and left several in the trees. Harley and Milly had the points of the day and Jazz was a retrieving maniac!
This was a new place I had never been to. The garmin is becoming more helpful as it helped me locate cover between water. I love hunting new places. There were several beaver dams like the one pictured below and birds all around them.

New spot. Great Ruff day !
I had a beautiful day hunting ruffies with the Brittany's this morning. We found a lot of birds mostly singles and mature birds and I was very selective as the ones I shot out with the dogs. Lots of great dog work, decent shooting and incredible habitat.
Not finding as many young birds this year so I'm not taking as many birds.

Day 2 of chasing Grouse
Jazž did an excellent job pointing and retrieving this trophy ruff grouse. The dogs were proud of this one. I was on my way back to get the rig with 3 birds in my bag and and said lets go tres Brittany's and get one more on the way. Well, jazz nailed this one. We also found two more family groups on the way to the truck.
My take for the day. We found some new places to go and they were so rewarding.
Lee and I's birds.
Opening day of Grouse season in Idaho
The First walk of the year was a memorable one. Lee, Jordan and I took 5 Ruff grouse over some really good dog work. This photo is along the path back with the birds and the guns.
This next photo is with Harley and I along the creek as we came back from finishing up my morning. She helped me get 2 more Ruff grouse.

We found two coveys of Huns tonight out getting ready for the season. The dogs pointed here even though these birds flushed before we got there.
