Black Friday and Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is always a great weekend. No it's not Black Friday that gets me excited, it's usually a good couple of days of bird hunting with family and friends.
A good thanksgiving eve hunt. I got two Huns and 3 roosters.

Huns, quail, pheasant and the 3 Britts!

Jazz and a chukar. It was so cold in the mist and fog we were frosting up on our whiskers, both dog and man.

A covey of chukar in the rocks. Dogs on point. Lee moving in.

Sun setting on the end of our hunt.

Harley, Jazz and Milly and a pair of chukar. More interested in everything going on on the hill and not taking a picture.

Pre-thanksgiving Warmup

Had a great afternoon run with the dogs.  Jazz was the boss today. She pointed several times today and held great on the ones that cooperated. This little buck also added to the joy of the day.

Huns and Roosters

Busy Saturday of basketball. Had time for a short and beautiful hunt/walk this morning. Point and retrieve on a small covey of huns by Jazz and a nice find and retrieve on the Rooster by Harley.

Miscellaneous pheasant photos

I try to respect all the birds I shoot and one of those ways is keeping a journal and photo of them all. These are a few from the reservation as well as some good miscellaneous photos of the dogs.

Jazz on point!

Roosters on the creek

My favorite creek for roosters has been feast or famine this year. Had an incredible afternoon hunt with my dad Saturday.  2 of the 3 places had a lot of birds on them.  It was super windy but the dogs had some great points and great retrieves. We each took a pair of roosters. Millynhad a great retrieve across the creek, Harley and Jazz had some excellent points.

Back to one of the old spots...

Went out on a quick hunt Friday night, I was able to go to a place that none of my current 3 Britts have ever been.  It's been several years since I hunted this place, great memories of days gone by... We pointed a Ruff grouse (that I missed), a rooster pheasant that flew out where I couldn't get a shot off, and Jazz had an incredible find, point and hold one nice covey of Huns. I could have doubled, but I had to shoot the same bird twice.
Also ran into more deer and some nice bucks.
Maybe the highlight was the two Bull elk we shoved out of the brush. I was late getting my camera out, you  can only see their antlers going over the hill in the picture.  Only 1 Hun, but a beautiful night.

Youth pheasant hunt today

A beautiful November day here in Idaho. I was committed to a youth pheasant hunt as a dog handler and my daughters basketball game. The boys I took got to shoot quite a bit, even connected on a few.

I was able to snap some excellent pictures anyway.
