Ruff Grouse Hunt

This was a quick morning hunt. Harley and Milly got me into my only Ruff Grouse of the morning. We won't talk about the Blue's they pointed and I missed.

Montana 2011

This Picture Has lee and all the dogs,
Lee and I loaded up the Dogs and headed north to Montana. September opens up to Huns and Sharptails up there- we couldn't wait to get the dogs out.
This picture has Milly, Harley, Archie, Sage, Dez and Saide, 7 huns and a morning dove, and of course myself.  This was the last of our hunts on that trip but a memorable one.

Lee with the our Sharptail Limit and few huns.

The Fergus!
We cooked up some Sharptail, Huns, and some Veggies we purchased from the Hutterites in Montana. The name of the grill comes from one of our hero's (Jim Fergus) that inspried us to get the grill (Thanks Melinda), and follow suite.

Sage, Harley, Archie, Saide and Pepper, we actually had a  covey of Huns up above us!
The best thing about this picture, is 5 of the Huns on the tailgate were retrieved by Milly.  2 of them were great dead bird finds that Lee had shot.  All the training paid off on this one.

Milly Retrieved her first Ruffed Grouse today!

Took Harley and Milly Ruffed Grouse Hunting today.  Had a great morning.  Harley pointed a nice Mature male ruffed grouse and Milly had her first and an amazing retrieve today.  When we got back to the house we took some pictures and she held still, even lifted up her paw showing off some her instincts I guess.

Opening Day of Grouse Season in Idaho!

Madison Got to go Grouse Hunting this year, she was so excited.   We bought her a new 410 shotgun and went chasing some Ruffed and Blue Grouse.
Riley and Madison with the Blue's and Ruff's we shot.  Madison got 1 Ruffed Grouse and Riley 1 as well.  Lee, Nick and I each got some Blue's and Ruff's as well.  All in all 9 Birds.  It was a good morning.  We had some good dog work and had to work hard.

Riley with his Two Ruffed Grouse and Madison holding my Blue and her Ruffed Grouse!  We just failed to get pictures of the dogs, you can see them in the background in the kennel of one of the trucks.
